The eighth season of “The Lord of the Skies” (El Señor De Los Cielos) is currently airing on Telemundo Internacional and later in the year across Africa but the superseries starring the Mexican actor, Rafael Amaya is far from coming to an end.
As part of its multiplatform programming for the 2023/2024 season, Telemundo has confirmed a new season of the successful saga, which will be the ninth.
The “longest-running and best-loved” franchise is set to return next year with “a riveting ninth season featuring fan-favorite leading man Rafael Amaya.”
In the upcoming season of “The Lord of the Skies”, Aurelio will have no other option but to return to the violent nature that is in his blood, accepting that the Casillas will never live in peace. After being betrayed and his son Ismael is arrested, Aurelio will unleash a wave of violence in the country by wanting to take revenge and defend his family. With new and old enemies to neutralize, Aurelio will show no mercy and let out the beast that made him the notorious Lord of the Skies.
The new season will mark the 750th episode of the series and celebrate its 10th anniversary as the superseries premiered in April 2013 and since then it has had one season per year, with the exception of the break that it had between 2020 and 2023. The fiction has reached more than 30 countries through open channels, cable and digital platforms such as Netflix and Blim, and in 2014, it won an International Emmy Award.
